Well, we've had some excitement

The mailman pointed out a bird sitting on the lawn that he said fell out of a tree.  I picked him up and he flew a short way, but landed back on the grass. So I called the SPCA and the Bedford Audubon Society.  Both said he would be fine.  That Mom would come get him, or he'd figure out how to fly.  I dunno.  I hope they weren't just saying that to make me feel better.

I looked him up.  He's an Eastern Phoebe, and apparently eats insects, but I tried to give him a grub and he wouldn't take it.  I sure hope he's ok

It's so nice when they think of us!

Just got a letter with some recent photos of the family from one of our nephews.  He's growing a beautiful family of his own now.

It was so nice to be remembered when they were thinking of family.

My nephew Kevin is getting married in September.  She really is a  lovely girl.  He chose wisely.  Considering he's the next to youngest nephew, that makes me REALLY old.

Bye, bye, birdies

Well, I guess I kinda know what "empty nest syndrome" is like now.  Good luck, Brunhilde!

The birdies are looking almost adult

I'm glad they're safely in their nest today.  We've got a thunderstorm going.

Brunhilde looks to me like she's contemplating her upcoming entry into the world

Some plumage, isn't it!
Brunhilde's looking great!  Almost all grown up.

Day 6: They're growing!

It's getting crowded in there.  The birds are climbing over each other in that little space

This is amazing:  face to face with a baby bird!

Day 4: The birds are definitely looking more like preteens and less like pink babies

They're already spreading their wings

I think this little one is the oldest.  I've decided to name her Brunhilde

Here's Brunhilde with her brother Algernon

Day 3 of the bird watch.  Feathers!
Notice how one of them can roll over already.
Talk about growing up fast

They grow up so fast!

aunt and nephew
Would you believe that the little fellow on the right is graduating high school and will be off to college next fall?  I remember holding him in my arms when he was a month old!    I remember his first birthday party!  I remember making up silly songs for him. I remember when he graduated from nursery school.  And now he's a young man!

It has impressed on me once again of enjoying and savoring the moments with one's nephews and nieces while you can, before they grow up and have their own nieces and nephews.
